Hello, we’re Troy and Sarah, the husband-and-wife team behind our homestead. We’ve been married for three years, and while our backgrounds are quite different, we’ve come together to build a life we’re proud of—one centered around simplicity, self-sufficiency, and family.
I (Troy) grew up with some experience of farm life. I learned early on the value of hard work, caring for animals, and how the land can provide for you. Those experiences stuck with me and eventually shaped my desire to live closer to the earth. After years away from that lifestyle, I felt the call to return to something more grounded, and that’s when the idea of homesteading started to take root.
Sarah, on the other hand, did not grow up in a farm environment. Her background was far removed from the homestead life we live today, but her curiosity, adaptability, and love for animals made the transition smoother than either of us expected. While this has been a learning curve for her, Sarah’s passion and determination have been vital to making our homestead what it is today. She’s embraced the lifestyle wholeheartedly, and now, I couldn’t imagine this journey without her by my side.
Together, we’ve built a life on 20 acres, raising our two children and caring for our animals, which include cattle, chickens, and goats. Our goal is to live more sustainably, reconnect with nature, and teach our kids the value of living off the land.
We didn’t jump into homesteading thinking it would be easy—we knew it would be hard work. But these past two years have shown us how rewarding it can be. We’re constantly learning from each other, from the land, and from the challenges we face as a family. Through it all, our bond has only grown stronger, and we look forward to the many adventures ahead.
